Ivan has been active as an artist since 2009.

Ivan often paints portraits in which the other’s gaze literally is brought into picture. He knows how to capture different characters.  For inspiration, Ivan selects everyday people and striking figures from portraits in newspapers, magazines and fashion magazines.

 

He always starts the same way: he chooses a model that is faced forward and makes studies in his sketchbook.  Then he studies the colors he wants to use. After that, he renders the contours on a larger carrier and starts to fill the various areas color by color, after which he draws on the lines for a second time.  The cityscape would look lively in this multitude of colors.

 

Ivan always paints with acrylic paints.  He uses elementary shapes that are emboldened with a characteristic coating use of color. He is a prolific  artist who has created hundreds of paintings in his set style in the past 20 years. Many viewers are immediately charmed by his direct technique, which in turn motivates him to keep on painting.
